Women Empowerment Projects
Through our Women Empowerment initiatives, we support women to start and grow small businesses such as palmyra products, candle making, soap production, and other micro-enterprises. We work with 300+ women groups of 5–15 members, providing a Rs. 2,500 seed fund per group. Many groups have grown these funds sustainably, with some accumulating savings of up to Rs. 10 lakhs.
Family Support & Care Program
Within our Family Support Program, we provide food assistance, medical supplies, housing and washroom construction, bicycles for students, school supplies, and free eye glasses. We also support Maveerar families and respond to natural disasters, focusing mainly on Mullaitivu, Mannar, Vavuniya, and Malayagam communities.
About

About Nesakkarangal

Community-led, transparent, and focused on long-term change.

Who We Are

Nesakkarangal is a community-led charity initiative created by Tamil Canadians to uplift families in Northern Sri Lanka. Our focus is simple: give people the tools, skills, and support they need to build a stable, dignified life.

We work in Mannar, Vanni, Mullaithivu and surrounding areas to support children’s education, create skills training for women, and help families start and grow small businesses. Instead of one-time handouts, we aim for long-term change through structured support and shared responsibility.

Every rupee is carefully used and tracked. Families and women’s groups contribute their own effort and, in many cases, repay micro-loans so the same funds can help the next family in need.
